91_SR0158 LRB9107062KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 3 to learn of the death of William B. Park of Long Grove, 4 Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, William B. Park was born in Evanston; he 6 attended Northwestern University, studying engineering and 7 English literature; he was a part of the swim team, and 8 continued to be physically active all his life, swimming and 9 walking on a daily basis; and 10 WHEREAS, Upon graduation from college, William B. Park 11 took over his father's plumbing business, and later made the 12 business a kitchen and bath design company in Northbrook; and 13 WHEREAS, William B. Park served on the Ela-Vernon High 14 School District board in the early 1960s, and was 15 instrumental in the creation of Stevenson High School 16 District 125, selecting the site for the school and the 17 architect, Frank Lloyd Wright protege, Dennis Blair; and 18 WHEREAS, In addition William B. Park served on the boards 19 of Gridley and Kildeer-Countryside schools; he served on the 20 Vernon Township Library board, the Long Grove Park District 21 board, and served as moderator for the yearly Vernon Township 22 public meetings; and 23 WHEREAS, William B. Park and his wife published a 24 collection of poems titled "Rhyme and Reason"; William B. 25 Park also wrote poems and essays on his own; he also crafted 26 his own silver jewelry and serving sets, and constructed a 27 one-eighth scale working railroad model in his backyard; and 28 WHEREAS, William B. Park and his wife were honored by the 29 Illinois General Assembly in 1988 for their public service; 30 in that same year they were honored by receiving the 31 Stevenson High Heritage Award; and -2- LRB9107062KBkb 1 WHEREAS, William B. Park is survived by his wife, 2 Virginia; his daughters, Deborah and Drusilla; his son, 3 Daniel; his sister, Agnes Dobson; and five grandchildren; 4 therefore, be it 5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 7 his family and friends, the death of William B. Park of Long 8 Grove, Illinois; and be it further 9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 10 presented to the family of William B. Park, along with our 11 sincere regards.
