91_SR0066 LRB9106346KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 extend their sincere sympathies to the family and friends of 4 John William Stevens, who passed away on March 10, 1999; and 5 WHEREAS, John Stevens was born in Peoria County on July 6 4, 1911; his parents were Chester and Hattie Doubet Stevens; 7 on November 10, 1939 he married Bernice Kroepel in Glasford; 8 and 9 WHEREAS, John Stevens was the owner and operator of the 10 Phillips 66 Station and Trucking in Hanna City until 1952; 11 Mr. Stevens was also a farmer in the Hanna City area; and 12 WHEREAS, John Stevens was a past member of the Hanna City 13 Village Board; he was a life member of the Hanna City 14 Sportsman's Club and the Peoria County Farm Bureau; he was a 15 former volunteer firefighter for the Logan-Trivoli Fire 16 Department; and he was a past 4-H leader; and 17 WHEREAS, Mr. Stevens was a former director of the 18 Northern Illinois Breeding Co-op and Prairie Farms Dairy; he 19 served as a vice president of the Producers Diary; for 21 20 years he was a member of the Peoria County Board; he served 21 on the Peoria County Republican Central Committee and served 22 as a precinct committeeman; and 23 WHEREAS, John Stevens was a member of the Hanna City 24 Presbyterian Church; and 25 WHEREAS, John Stevens is survived by his wife, Bernice; 26 his sons, Jack, Bob, and Chuck; his daughter, Kay (Jack) 27 Down; his sisters, Dorothy Johnson and Hazel Hudson; his 28 eight grandchildren; his three step-grandchildren; his five 29 great-grandchildren; and his five step-great-grandchildren; 30 therefore, be it -2- LRB9106346KBkb 1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 3 his family and friends, the death of John William Stevens of 4 Hanna City, Illinois; may they find comfort and solace in 5 this time of need; and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to the family of John William Stevens.
