Amend Senate Resolution 49 by 3 replacing lines 19 through 31 on page 1 and all of page 2 4 with the following: 5 "RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that there is created the 7 Industrial Hemp Investigative and Advisory Task Force 8 consisting of the Director of Agriculture or his or her 9 designee, who shall be chairperson, and 12 additional 10 members, 6 each, selected by the President of the Senate and 11 the Minority Leader of the Senate, representing expertise in 12 the fields of plant science, food processing science, law 13 enforcement, herbology, or manufacturing; members of the Task 14 Force shall serve without compensation but shall be 15 reimbursed for their reasonable and necessary expenses from 16 funds appropriated for that purpose; and be it further 17 RESOLVED, The Task Force shall study the economic 18 viability of industrial hemp production in this State, shall 19 identify any legal or other obstacles to industrial hemp 20 production, shall make any recommendations it deems 21 appropriate, and shall report its findings and 22 recommendations to the Illinois Senate by January 1, 2000; 23 and upon reporting to the Senate, the Task Force shall be -2- LRB9106160EGfgam01 1 dissolved; and be it further 2 RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall meet initially at the 3 call of the chairperson and shall hold public hearings; and 4 be it further 5 RESOLVED, That the University of Illinois College of ACES 6 (Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences) is 7 requested to work with the Task Force and cooperate in 8 undertaking the study; and be it further 9 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 10 delivered to the President of the University of Illinois and 11 the Illinois Director of Agriculture.".
