91_SR0024 LRB9103331CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Melanie Lashan Green of Dolton on Tuesday, 4 February 2, 1999; and 5 WHEREAS, She was a member of St. Raphael's Church, 6 including being a member of the church choir for years; she 7 served as a junior counselor for 5 years and was appointed an 8 assistant counselor in 1998 in St. Raphael's St. Margaret 9 Peter Claver Court 156; and 10 WHEREAS, From her loving mother, Deborah Green, and her 11 special dad, William Shaw, she received her loving spirit, 12 her commitment to others, and the guidance and direction that 13 helped make her the wonderful person that she was; and 14 WHEREAS, She attended St. Raphael's Elementary School and 15 Maria High School in Chicago; she attended Western Illinois 16 University and Chicago State University, where she was a 17 senior on the dean's list in 1998, majoring in criminal 18 justice; and 19 WHEREAS, She was employed at the Dolton Police Department 20 as a Police Dispatcher; she had served as a page in the 21 Illinois House of Representatives and as a member of the 9th 22 Ward Young Democratic Organization and the Dolton Youth 23 Commission; and 24 WHEREAS, Her passing will be deeply felt by her family 25 and friends, especially her daughter, Ashley; her mother, 26 Deborah Green; her special dad, William Shaw; her biological 27 father, Anthony Green; her fiance, Shawn Staples; her 28 grandmothers, Juanita Cook and Dorothy Green; her brothers, 29 Maurice Green and Anthony Anderson; her uncles, Robert Shaw, 30 Maurice Cook, Ralph Coleman, Walter Coleman, and Paris 31 Norton; and her aunts, Cynthia Norton, Melanie Green, -2- LRB9103331CBcb 1 Stephanie Dickson, Antoinette Dickson Ellis, and Stephanie 2 Cook; therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow 5 and regret the death of Melanie Lashan Green and extend our 6 sincere condolences to her family and friends; and be it 7 further 8 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 9 presented to the family of Melanie Lashan Green.
