 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate  are  grieved
 3    to learn of the death of John C. Knight, dedicated officer of
 4    the Chicago Police Department; and

 5        WHEREAS,  John  Knight  died  while serving the people of
 6    Chicago; Mr. Knight followed in the footsteps of his  father,
 7    who  is  retired  from  the  Chicago  Police Department; John
 8    Knight received 2 commendations, 17 honorable  mentions,  and
 9    one  complimentary  letter  during  his 9 years on the police
10    force; and

11        WHEREAS, John Knight was a lifelong resident of  Chicago;
12    he  was  a  graduate of Brother Rice High School, a member of
13    the St. Jude's League, and the Federation of Police; and

14        WHEREAS, Officer Knight leaves to remember him his  wife,
15    Joan;  his children, Matthew, Brian, and Lauren; his parents,
16    Anna  Marie  Knight  and  Charles  L.  Knight;  his  in-laws,
17    Collette and Thomas Ciukaj; his siblings, Stephen, Charles P.
18    and his wife, Lisa, and Mary Mc Avoy and her husband, Joseph;
19    his sisters-in-law, Mary Beth Ciukaj, Janice Gaughan and  her
20    husband,  Thomas,  Jennifer Ciukaj, and Christine Ciukaj; his
21    brothers-in-law, Thomas Ciukaj  and  his  wife,  Jeanne,  and
22    Michael  Ciukaj; his aunts and uncles, Rose and James Knight,
23    Babe and James Wolf, and Donald Brehm, husband  of  the  late
24    Mary  Alice;  his  nieces and nephews, Kara, Katie, Samantha,
25    Shannon, Timothy, Jeremy, Katie,  Tommy,  and  Elizabeth;  as
26    well  as  his  partner  on  the  police  force, James Butler;
27    therefore, be it

28        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST  GENERAL
29    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
30    his family, friends, and fellow officers, the death  of  John
31    C.  Knight  of  Chicago;  at  this time of loss we extend our
32    sincere condolences and hope that all who have  been  touched

 1    by this man's life find peace at this time of need; and be it
 2    further

 3        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 4    presented to Joan Knight.
