91_SR0017 LRB9102235CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn 3 of the recent death of Theodore Kotlarz, Jr., a Chicago 4 police detective; and 5 WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the Northwest Side of 6 Chicago, he had started his law enforcement career even 7 before graduating from Gordon Technical High School by 8 enrolling in the Police Department's cadet program; and 9 WHEREAS, He was first stationed in the Town Hall District 10 in 1972 as a beat officer, worked on the elite tactical 11 undercover team, and was promoted to detective in the 12 property crimes division for the Harrison area; and 13 WHEREAS, Detective Kotlarz was a Chicago police officer 14 for 26 years; he was awarded numerous commendations; and 15 WHEREAS, He was a member of the Polish American Police 16 Association, St. Jude's League, and Knights of Columbus 17 Father Francis A. Ryan Council 5025; and 18 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family 19 and friends, especially by his wife, Sharon; his sons, 20 Theodore III and Scott; his mother, Irene; his brothers, 21 Stanley and Kenneth; and his sisters, Susan and Carolyn 22 Miner; therefore, be it 23 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 24 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow 25 and regret the death of Theodore Kotlarz, Jr., and extend our 26 sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it 27 further 28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 29 presented to his widow, Sharon Kotlarz.
