91_SC0008 LRB9100871JMmb 1 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 2 CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 3 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF 5 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that there shall be 6 submitted to the electors of the State for adoption or 7 rejection at the general election next occurring at least 6 8 months after the adoption of this resolution a proposition to 9 amend Article V of the Illinois Constitution by changing 10 Section 2 as follows: 11 ARTICLE V 12 THE EXECUTIVE 13 (ILCON Art. V, Sec. 2) 14 SECTION 2. TERMS 15 (a) Except as provided in subsection (b), theThese16 elected officers of the Executive Branch shall hold office 17 for four years beginning on the second Monday of January 18 after their election and, except in the case of the 19 Lieutenant Governor, until their successors are qualified. 20 They shall be elected at the general election in 2002 and at 21 the general election in 20041978and every four years 22 thereafter. 23 (b) The officers of the Executive Branch elected in 2002 24 shall hold office for two years beginning on the second 25 Monday of January after their election and, except in the 26 case of the Lieutenant Governor, until their successors are 27 qualified. 28 (Source: Illinois Constitution.) 29 SCHEDULE 30 This Constitutional Amendment takes effect upon being 31 declared adopted in accordance with Section 7 of the Illinois -2- LRB9100871JMmb 1 Constitutional Amendment Act.
