Amend Senate Bill 1657 on page 1, 3 lines 2 and 6, after "Sections" each time it appears, by 4 inserting "2-1,"; and 5 on page 1, by inserting below line 7 the following: 6 "(20 ILCS 2215/2-1) (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 6502-1) 7 Sec. 2-1. Council Authorized. There is hereby created 8 the Illinois Health Care Cost Containment Council. It shall 9 consist of 1311members appointed by the Governor with the 10 advice and consent of the Senate as follows: 53members to 11 represent providers as follows: 2 members to represent 12 Illinois hospitals at least one of which must represent a 13 small rural hospital, 2 members to represent physicians 14 licensed to practice medicine in all its branches, and 1 15 member to represent ambulatory surgical treatment centers; 3 16 members to represent consumers; 2 members to represent 17 insurance companies; and 3 members to represent businesses. 18 The members of the Council shall be appointed for 3-year 19three yearterms. 20 No more than 7sixmembers may be from the same political 21 party. 22 Members shall be appointed within 30thirtydays after -2- SRS91SB1657DLsaam01 1 the effective date of this Act. The additional members 2 appointed under the amendatory Act of the 91st General 3 Assembly must be appointed within 30 days after the effective 4 date of this amendatory Act of the 91st General Assembly. The 5 members of the Council shall receive reimbursement of their 6 actual expenses incurred in connection with their service; in 7 addition, each member shall receive compensation of $150 a 8 day for each day served at regular or special meetings of the 9 Council, except that such compensation shall not exceed 10 $20,000 in any one year for any member. The Council shall 11 elect a Chairman from among its members, and shall have the 12 power to organize and appoint such other officers as it may 13 deem necessary. 14 All appointments shall be made in writing and filed with 15 the Secretary of State as a public record. 16 (Source: P.A. 83-1243.)"; and 17 on page 7, line 8, by replacing "to" with "the"; and 18 on page 9, line 4, by replacing "July 1, 2000" with "January 19 1, 2001"; and 20 on page 9, line 6, by replacing "July 1, 2001" with "January 21 1, 2002".
