1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by adding Section
2 10-22.34d.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
6 10-22.34d as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 5/10-22.34d new)
8 Sec. 10-22.34d. Teaching interns. A school board may
9 employ a student holding a bachelor's degree from a
10 recognized institution of higher learning, as defined in
11 Section 21-21 of this Code, as a teaching intern if the
12 student is enrolled in a college or university internship
13 program leading to a master's degree, provided that the
14 program has prior approval from the regional office of
15 education or the State Board of Education, in consultation
16 with the State Teacher Certification Board.
