91_SB1319 LRB9109457RCks 1 AN ACT to amend the Criminal Code of 1961 by adding 2 Section 32-4d. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by 6 adding Section 32-4d as follows: 7 (720 ILCS 5/32-4d new) 8 Sec. 32-4d. Payment of jurors by parties prohibited. 9 (a) After a verdict has been rendered in a civil or 10 criminal case, a person who was a plaintiff or defendant in 11 the case may not offer or pay an award or other fee to a 12 juror who was a member of the jury that rendered the verdict 13 in the case. 14 (b) After a verdict has been rendered in a civil or 15 criminal case, a member of the jury that rendered the verdict 16 may not accept an award or fee from the plaintiff or 17 defendant in that case. 18 (c) A violation of this Section is a Class A 19 misdemeanor. 20 (d) This Section does not apply to the payment of a fee 21 or award to a person who was a juror for purposes unrelated 22 to the jury's verdict or to the outcome of the case.
