1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by adding Section
2 2-3.115a.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
6 2-3.115a as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 5/2-3.115a new)
8 Sec. 2-3.115a. Civics internship pilot program. The
9 State Board of Education shall establish a civics internship
10 pilot program at Thornridge High School in Thornton Township
11 High School District 205. A student selected to participate
12 in this program must be in the 12th grade at Thornridge High
13 School. The student shall be assigned to a government
14 official and shall receive, subject to appropriation, a $500
15 a month stipend while working for this government official.
16 The State Board of Education may adopt any rules necessary to
17 implement and administer this program.
18 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect on
19 July 1, 2000.
