To the Honorable Members of
the Illinois State Senate
91st General Assembly
Pursuant to Article IV, Section 9(b) of the Illinois
Constitution of 1970, I hereby veto and return Senate Bill
1241 entitled, "AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code."
Senate Bill 1241 amends Sections 2-119 and 3-634 of the
Illinois Vehicle Code to provide that money in the Illinois
Fire Fighters' Memorial Fund shall, subject to appropriation
by the General Assembly, be used for maintaining the Illinois
Fire Fighters' Memorial, for holding an annual memorial
commemoration, and for providing scholarships to children of
fire fighters killed in the line of duty.
I fully support the provisions in Senate Bill 1241;
however, I have already signed into law House Bill 2870,
which contains identical provisions.
For this reason, I hereby veto and return Senate Bill
1241.
