1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1074
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 1074 on page 1,
3 line 5, after "5,", by inserting "7,"; and
4 on page 18, immediately below line 15, by inserting the
5 following:
6 "(225 ILCS 650/7) (from Ch. 56 1/2, par. 307)
7 Sec. 7. Administration.
8 The Director of the Department of Agriculture shall
9 administer this Act. For the purposes of this Act, the
10 Director may employ graduates of a veterinary college
11 recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association and
12 other persons who have qualified and are skilled in the
13 inspection of meat and poultry products and any other
14 additional employee, and he or she may utilize in the
15 enforcement of this Act any employee, agent or equipment of
16 the Department. Beginning January 1, 2000, the Director
17 shall increase the number of inspectors and veterinarians the
18 Director employs for the purposes of this Act by 10% per year
19 for the next 5 years, subject to available appropriations.
20 The Department may establish and maintain laboratory
21 facilities as necessary to administer this Act.
