1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 101
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 101, by replacing
3 everything after the enacting clause with the following:
4 "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5 changing Section 11-1502 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/11-1502) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-1502)
7 Sec. 11-1502. Traffic laws apply to persons riding
8 bicycles. Every person riding a bicycle upon a highway shall
9 be granted all of the rights and shall be subject to all of
10 the duties applicable to the driver of a vehicle by this
11 Code, except as to special regulations in this Article XV and
12 except as to those provisions of this Code which by their
13 nature can have no application. A person riding a bicycle is
14 an intended and permitted user of (1) that portion or segment
15 of any street or highway in Illinois on which bicycles are
16 permitted to ride pursuant to Article XV of Chapter 11 of the
17 Illinois Vehicle Code except where bicycles are specifically
18 prohibited by statute or local ordinance from using the
19 street or highway and signs to that effect are posed and (2)
20 that portion or segment of any street or highway in Illinois
21 which is designated as a bike lane or bike route.".
