1 AN ACT concerning meat and poultry inspection.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Animals Intended for Food Act is amended
5 by changing Section 1 as follows:
6 (410 ILCS 605/1) (from Ch. 8, par. 106)
7 Sec. 1. Inspection of animals intended for food.
8 For the purpose of preventing the use of meat or meat
9 food products, or poultry or poultry food products, which are
10 unsound, unhealthful, unwholesome or otherwise unfit for
11 human food, the Department of Agriculture may make or cause
12 to be made an examination of any animal intended for human
13 food which is believed to be afflicted with any contagious or
14 infectious disease, or any disease or ailment which would
15 render the carcass of the animal unfit for human food.
