1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 Donald Hensel of West Chicago, Illinois, will celebrate the
8 fiftieth anniversary of their marriage; and
9 WHEREAS, Donald and Mary Ann Hensel were united in holy
10 matrimony on August 26, 1950 at St. Mary's Church in West
11 Chicago; and
12 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of David, Steven,
13 Dona, James, and Richard; and the grandparents of twelve
14 wonderful grandchildren; and
15 WHEREAS, Donald Hensel served in the United States Army
16 Air Force from 1944 through 1945; he was called back into
17 active service during the Korean Conflict in 1950; he is a
18 retired Illinois State Representative who served for five
19 terms from 1982 through 1992; he served as Winfield Township
20 Republican Committeeman from 1967 through 1978 and as
21 Chairperson from 1970 through 1978; he served as Winfield
22 Township Trustee from 1973 through 1977 and as Winfield
23 Township Clerk from 1977 through 1985; and he served as a
24 Director of the Illinois International Port District Board
25 from 1993 through 1998; and
26 WHEREAS, Mary Ann Hensel worked in the West Chicago High
27 School cafeteria from 1966 through 1984; she has been a
28 member of the Wayne/Winfield Township Republican Women's
29 Organization from 1982 to the present day; she has served as
30 President of the Wayne/Winfield Township Republican Women's
31 Organization from 1983 through 1985; and

1 WHEREAS, Donald and Mary Ann Hensel now spend their
2 retirement traveling to Florida, Arizona, Wisconsin and
3 places in between; and
4 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
5 highest plateaus when a couple such as Donald and Mary Ann
6 celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and
7 WHEREAS, Donald and Mary Ann stand as examples of the
8 best of our society, and their love and devotion to each
9 other and to their family and friends serve as a reminder to
10 all that hard work, dedication, and love can make a
11 difference in today's world; therefore, be it
12 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14 we congratulate Donald and Mary Ann Hensel on the occasion of
15 their fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for
16 achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children
17 and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that we wish
18 them happiness and good health in the future; and be it
19 further
20 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem.
