1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of the members of
3 the Illinois House of Representatives that the Pontiac
4 Indians football team recently went as far as the Class 4A
5 Final Four tournament; and
6 WHEREAS, The Indians finished their season with a record
7 of 12 wins and 1 loss; during the regular season they went
8 undefeated with nine wins and no losses; and
9 WHEREAS, This team is 1 of 6 teams in the history of
10 Pontiac High School to have an undefeated regular season; the
11 previous seasons were 1912, 1945, 1951, 1956, and 1997; and
12 WHEREAS, Team member Kevin Watson carries on a family
13 tradition begun when his grandfather played on the 1945
14 Indians team and his brother played on the team in 1997; and
15 WHEREAS, the 2000 squad ranks in the top 2 teams ever at
16 Pontiac to achieve 12 wins in a season; they are the 2nd team
17 in Pontiac history to become semifinalists in State playoffs;
18 and the squad also set a record for total offense; and
19 WHEREAS, The Coaches are Mick Peterson, David Young, Mike
20 Hatfield, Jason Drongwitz, Mike Mays, Chris Peterson, and
21 Paul Ritter; and
22 WHEREAS, The 2000 squad members are Santos Gonzalez, Nick
23 Curry, Brian Giovanini, Andy Vitzthum, Tommy Green, Dylan
24 Mays, Drew Peterson, Josh Rupprecht, John Roberts, Matt
25 Aaron, Michael Thorne, Eric Bauman, Chris Roberts, Jake
26 Cunningham, Albert Torraz, Joe Nolan, Kevin Gray, Kevin
27 Watson, Robert Hoggins, Mike Trainor, Aaron Vogt, Kyle Dowdy,
28 Adam Ramseyer, Brandon Bressner, Casey Casson, Brian Green,
29 Brian Fearman, Eric Saxton, Stephen Ribordy, John Tucker,
30 Josh Tuley, Jon Hoerner, Ryan Oltman, Mike Cramer, Trevor

4 WHEREAS, With the leadership of Head Coach Mick Peterson
5 and the dedication of team captains Kevin Watson, Adam
6 Ramseyer, Santos Gonzalez, Mike Cramer, and Drew Peterson,
7 the Pontiac Indians proved themselves worthy of honor;
8 therefore, be it
9 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11 we congratulate the Pontiac Indians football team, Coach Mick
12 Peterson, the students, staff, and faculty of Pontiac High
13 School, and the people of Pontiac, Illinois on this
14 impressive football season; and be it further
15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to Coach Mick Peterson and the members of the
17 Pontiac Indians football team.
