1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Dr. James Kennedy of Michigan City, Indiana,
3 formerly of Kankakee, Illinois, recently received the Stritch
4 Medal from Loyola University; and
5 WHEREAS, Dr. Kennedy's list of accomplishments include a
6 free outpatient clinic at St. Mary's Hospital, a clinic at
7 Pembroke, and a clinic for well babies on the north side of
8 Kankakee; and
9 WHEREAS, In addition he has rehabilitated vacant houses,
10 helped begin the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Adult Education
11 Center and Day Care, helped found the Kankakee Valley
12 Montessori School, and volunteered in many other capacities;
13 and
14 WHEREAS, Dr. Kennedy has served as chief of surgery at
15 St. Mary's Hospital and Riverside Medical Center; he served
16 as chief of staff at Riverside; in 1983 he retired from his
17 duties as a surgeon; in 1989 he began teaching anatomy at the
18 Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola; Dr. Kennedy also
19 supervises the medical staff at St. Jude Hospital in St.
20 Lucia, West Indies, where he also works as a consultant; and
21 WHEREAS, In 1993 Dr. Kennedy received the Teacher of the
22 Year award from Loyola University; and
23 WHEREAS, Together with his wife, Elizabeth, Dr. Kennedy
24 has raised eleven children, many of whom still reside in the
25 Kankakee area; Dr. Kennedy truly deserves the honor presented
26 to him; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we congratulate Dr. James Kennedy on receiving the Stritch
30 Medal from Loyola University and wish him the best in his
31 future; and be it further

2 presented to Dr. James Kennedy.
