91_HR0934 LRB9115147RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives 4 of citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, Harold Hoyt will be honored as New Lenox citizen 6 of the year by the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce at its 7 annual recognition dinner on December 5, 2000; and 8 WHEREAS, Harold Hoyt was a New Lenox volunteer 9 firefighter for more than 20 years; he has been active in the 10 New Lenox United Methodist Church; and he has performed many 11 small tasks for the community, such as plowing snow for 12 senior citizens during the winter and helping with events 13 like the Relay for Life, which pays tribute to cancer 14 survivors; and 15 WHEREAS, Harold Hoyt worked as a butcher and later as a 16 manager of the former Dee and Ed's Grocery Store; in 1971 he 17 created an ice cream and sandwich shop, Frosties, as a hobby, 18 but the store quickly blossomed into a popular gathering 19 place for New Lenox families and members of youth athletic 20 teams; he can often be found working at the shop where he has 21 created about 100 jobs over the years for many young people; 22 and 23 WHEREAS, A resident of New Lenox since he was a boy, Mr. 24 Hoyt has sponsored numerous youth teams and local programs 25 over the years; the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, New Lenox 26 Park District programs and other organizations have either 27 taken tours through the shop or have gone on field trips to 28 Frosties; and 29 WHEREAS, Harold Hoyt is supported by his loving and proud 30 family which include his wife, Teri; his sons, Douglas and 31 David; and his mother, Margaret; therefore, be it -2- LRB9115147RHrh 1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 3 we congratulate Harold Hoyt for being honored as New Lenox 4 Citizen of the year by the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce for 5 his dedicated service to the families of New Lenox; and be it 6 further 7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 8 presented to Harold Hoyt as an expression of our esteem.
