1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor The Edwardsville High
4 School soccer team, the Tigers, on winning the Class AA State
5 championship; and
6 WHEREAS, On November 4, 2000, the Tigers entered Norris
7 Stadium in St. Charles, prepared to do battle against New
8 Lenox-Lincolnway at the Downers Grove South Tournament; the
9 battle ended with a 4-1 victory over their opposition and
10 their first State championship; and
11 WHEREAS, The Tigers ended the season with the best record
12 in their history, 25 wins, 3 losses, and 1 tie; and
13 WHEREAS, 3,500 fans gathered to watch Edwardsville take
14 home the title; coach Mark Heiderscheid and his team are to
15 be commended for their hard work and impressive win;
16 therefore, be it
17 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19 we congratulate the Edwardsville Tigers soccer team on their
20 great season and their first State championship; and be it
21 further
22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
23 presented to coach Mark Heiderscheid and the Tigers of
24 Edwardsville High School.
