1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives offer our sincere congratulations to Maria
4 Cicero on winning the Class AA Cross Country Individual Title
5 in Peoria on November 4, 2000; and
6 WHEREAS, Maria Cicero's record setting run, with a time
7 of 13:49, was six seconds faster than the one year old mark;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, Maria Cicero's performance helped this season's
10 undefeated Lady Duke Team win their first Class AA State
11 Championship Title, making November 4th "one of the greatest
12 days" in girls cross country team history at York Community
13 High School; and
14 WHEREAS, Maria Cicero, who received All-State Honors,
15 withstood, together with her teammates, the pressure of a
16 number one ranking all season to achieve their goal of a
17 State championship title; and
18 WHEREAS, Maria Cicero, whose quiet determination, drive
19 for excellence, and level of endurance, serves as an
20 inspiration to us all; and
21 WHEREAS, Maria Cicero's victory, together with the girls
22 cross country team title and the boys cross country team
23 title, swept the State finals, a first in Class AA history;
24 and
25 WHEREAS, we wish senior Maria Cicero, a dedicated athlete
26 and scholar, much success in the future; therefore be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we do hereby offer our congratulations to Maria Cicero on
30 winning the Class AA Cross Country Individual Title; and be
