91_HR0893 LRB9114461KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, Michael G. Williams, Chief of Police of the 3 Flossmoor Police Department, has made the decision to retire 4 in the year 2000; and 5 WHEREAS, Michael Williams began his career as a Patrol 6 Officer for the LaGrange Police Department on September 5, 7 1961; from 1966 to 1974 he served as a Patrol Sergeant; the 8 next year he served as a Sergeant in Investigations; from 9 1975 to 1983 he was Watch Commander and was promoted to 10 Lieutenant; and from 1983 to 1989 he was an Administrative 11 Lieutenant, serving as Administrative Assistant to the Chief 12 of Police; and 13 WHEREAS, In 1989 Michael Williams was appointed the Chief 14 of Police of the Flossmoor Police Department, assuming 15 responsibility for the community of 8,700 people; 18 sworn 16 officers, 9 auxiliary officers, and 9 civilian employees were 17 under his leadership during his time there; and 18 WHEREAS, Officer Williams received training at the FBI 19 National Academy in 1976; he also attended the Northwestern 20 Traffic Institute and has more than 2,200 hours of training 21 in management skills and police technical skills; he has a 22 Master of Public Administration degree from Roosevelt 23 University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business 24 Administration from Lewis University; and 25 WHEREAS, Michael Williams has been married for forty 26 years; he has three daughters and six grandchildren; and 27 WHEREAS, Michael Williams is a member of the FBI National 28 Academy Associates, the International Association of Chiefs 29 of Police, the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police 30 Executive Board, the South Suburban Association of Chiefs of 31 Police, where he was Immediate Past President, North East -2- LRB9114461KBkb 1 Multi-Region Training, where he previously served as Chairman 2 of the Training & Curriculum Committee and as a member of the 3 Board of Directors; therefore, be it 4 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 5 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 6 we congratulate Michael Williams on a job well done; we wish 7 him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further 8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 9 presented to Chief of Police Michael Williams.
