1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives
4 of citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Warren Robinson of Chicago, Illinois will be
6 recognized for his contributions to the South
7 Oakwood-Brookhaven Neighborhood Organization at "Visions
8 2000: A Community Responding to the Challenge," a time of
9 dining and entertainment celebrating the organization's
10 forty-first anniversary on October 14, 2000; and
11 WHEREAS, Warren Robinson was born in Memphis, Tennessee
12 fifty-nine years ago; he and wife met at Hyde Park High
13 School; they married at the United States Army base at Fort
14 Smith, Arkansas in 1964 before Mr. Robinson was sent to Korea
15 on active duty; and
16 WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson worked as a mechanic for REA
17 Express and the Pullman Company before getting the
18 opportunity to own and operate his own business, ROB's
19 Spotlite Foods, a grocery store at the corner of 72nd and
20 Woodlawn; and
21 WHEREAS, For over thirty years Mr. Robinson has been a
22 role model for many young people; he has served as the block
23 club president, and is currently the vice president of Bray
24 Temple's Head Start Board of Directors; he has sponsored the
25 drill team "Audi 4," as well as several basketball teams, and
26 he can be seen marching with the youngsters in the annual Bud
27 Billiken parade; and
28 WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson and his family attend Apostolic
29 Church of God in Woodlawn; he and his wife, Kathleen, have
30 four children; Cozette, Annette, Paulette, and Warren III;

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3 we congratulate Warren Robinson on being honored by the South
4 Oakwood-Brookhaven Neighborhood Organization on October 14,
5 2000; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Warren Robinson, along with our sincere regards.
