91_HR0832 LRB9113912KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the 3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage 4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for 5 the people of the State of Illinois; and 6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs. 7 Max Scott will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of their 8 marriage; and 9 WHEREAS, Max Scott and Mary Helen Scott were united in 10 holy matrimony on June 9, 1950; they met and courted at 11 Maroa-Forsythe High School in Maroa, Illinois; and 12 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of Drew, James, 13 Thomas, and the late Leslie Scott; and the proud grandparents 14 of Ellen and Emma Scott; and 15 WHEREAS, Max Scott spent his life as a teacher and speech 16 therapist in different schools throughout the Central 17 Illinois area; Mary Helen Scott was a homemaker and a 18 professional secretary and bookkeeper for the Illinois Farm 19 Bureau; Mrs. Scott has recently spent time serving as a 20 part-time postmaster in Harristown, Illinois and Mr. Scott 21 has served as a speech therapist for the United Way 22 Organization; and 23 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its 24 highest plateaus when a couple such as Max and Mary Helen 25 Scott celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and 26 WHEREAS, Max and Mary Helen Scott stand as examples of 27 the best of our society, and their love and devotion to each 28 other and to their family and friends serve as a reminder to 29 all that hard work, dedication, and love can make a 30 difference in today's world; therefore, be it -2- LRB9113912KBkb 1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 3 we congratulate Max and Mary Helen Scott on the occasion of 4 their fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for 5 achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children 6 and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that we wish 7 them happiness and good health in the future; and be it 8 further 9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 10 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem.
