91_HR0792 LRB9113854KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of 3 Metropolitan Chicago is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 4 April of 2000; and 5 WHEREAS, The Jewish Federation and its affiliate agencies 6 serve both the Jewish residents in the greater Chicago 7 metropolitan area and the general community residents as 8 well, in a variety of health care, human services, education, 9 immigration resettlement, and family recreation programs and 10 services; and 11 WHEREAS, The Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of 12 Metropolitan Chicago has won numerous awards for its 13 philanthropic activities and for its programming and services 14 innovation and excellence, and has provided virtually every 15 national Jewish organization with outstanding lay leadership 16 over the past decade; and 17 WHEREAS, The departments of Illinois State government 18 involved with health and human services have extensively 19 relied on the Jewish Federation and its array of affiliate 20 agencies for services to vulnerable segments of the State's 21 population; and 22 WHEREAS, The Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of 23 Metropolitan Chicago is engaged in a year long celebration of 24 its past and a study of local Jewish communal needs and 25 resources strengthening for the next one hundred years, 26 culminating in a presentation to the entire North American 27 Jewish community lay and professional leadership in the 28 United Jewish Communities' annual conference scheduled for 29 November of 2000 in Chicago; therefore, be it 30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 31 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that -2- LRB9113854KBkb 1 The Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan 2 Chicago's past and current leadership be commended for its 3 historic and ongoing achievements and programming, including 4 service to the State of Illinois in public policy advocacy 5 and shared responsibility for serving the State's vulnerable 6 populations; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That Illinois State government officials await 8 with interest the findings and conclusions of the centennial 9 year long study leading to recommendations as to how best to 10 finance, structure, and prioritize Jewish Federation programs 11 and services into the start of a second one hundred years, so 12 that State government executives may consider how best to 13 complement the new initiatives of the Jewish Federation and 14 its affiliate agencies; and be it further 15 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to 16 The Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan 17 Chicago Board of Directors with respect, appreciation, and 18 well wishes for their second century of exemplary public 19 service to the Jewish people and to the entire population of 20 the Chicago metropolitan area as a leading community based 21 non-profit organization within both Illinois and the entire 22 United States.
