1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The People's Republic of China has one of the
3 largest and fastest growing economies in the world; and
4 WHEREAS, Trade between the State of Illinois and the
5 People's Republic of China is important to the Illinois
6 economy; and
7 WHEREAS, The extent of this trade in the manufacturing,
8 agricultural, and other sectors of our State's economy can
9 confidently be expected to grow in extent and importance in
10 coming years; and
11 WHEREAS; It is desirable for the Illinois Department of
12 Commerce and Community Affairs, our State's chief economic
13 development agency, to actively support and encourage the
14 growing trade between the State of Illinois and the People's
15 Republic of China; and
16 WHEREAS; One of the designated statutory duties of the
17 Department of Commerce and Community Affairs is to assist
18 Illinois business to engage in, expand, and increase foreign
19 trade; and
20 WHEREAS, The Department of Commerce and Community Affairs
21 can make a significant contribution to fostering this trade
22 by establishing a trade office within the People's Republic
23 of China; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-
25 FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge
26 the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs to establish
27 a trade office within the People's Republic of China; and be
28 it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 delivered to the Governor, the Director of Commerce and

1 Community Affairs, and the Consul General of the People's
2 Republic of China in Chicago.
