1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Johnson County is located in the midst of the
3 Shawnee National Forest in the heart of Southern Illinois
4 with numerous outdoor activities and trails; and
5 WHEREAS, Bicycling has become an increasingly important
6 recreational activity in Johnson County with the location of
7 an expanded State bicycle trail in the county; and
8 WHEREAS, Johnson County is home to many bicycling
9 opportunities, including the intersection of a State
10 bicycling trail, "Tunnel Hill State Trail", and the national
11 Trans Continental bicycle route; and
12 WHEREAS, The expansion of bicycling offers many benefits
13 to Johnson County, including tourism revenue and family
14 sporting events; therefore, be it
15 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17 Johnson County is designated the "Bicycling Capital of
18 Illinois"; and be it further
19 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to the Johnson County Board.
