91_HR0763 LRB9113817CBcbA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are pleased to 3 recognize Illinois citizens who have distinguished themselves 4 in service to the citizens of this State; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Wayne L. 6 Sampson of Morton has announced his retirement as executive 7 director of the Illinois Association of School Boards, a 8 position he has held since 1989; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Sampson first joined the Association in 10 April of 1988 as assistant executive director for government 11 relations; prior to joining the Association staff, he was a 12 professor of agriculture at Illinois Central College; and 13 WHEREAS, Wayne Sampson was born on September 23, 1941; he 14 graduated from Dwight Township High School; he received his 15 Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture and his Master's Degree in 16 Education from the University of Illinois; and 17 WHEREAS, Wayne Sampson and his wife, Janice, are the 18 loving parents of a daughter Sally Anne, husband Andrew, and 19 a son Brian Wayne, wife Gina; they are the proud grandparents 20 of Shannon, Haley, and Nathan; and 21 WHEREAS, Mr. Sampson is affiliated with several 22 organizations, including the American Farm Bureau Federation, 23 the American Vocational Association, the Illinois 24 Agricultural Association, the Illinois Association of 25 Community College Instructors of Agriculture, the Illinois 26 Association of Vocational Agriculture Teachers, the Illinois 27 Vocational Association, and the National Vocational 28 Agriculture Teachers Association; and 29 WHEREAS, Wayne Sampson has also been a member of the 30 Illinois Association of School Boards, the Mid-Illini 31 Educational Service Center Board, the Morton Unit District -2- LRB9113817CBcbA 1 709 Board of Education, the Morton United Methodist Church, 2 the National School Boards Association, the Peoria Area 3 Chamber of Commerce, and the Tazewell-Mason Counties Special 4 Education Cooperative; and 5 WHEREAS, Wayne L. Sampson has earned the respect and 6 admiration of all for his commitment, hard work, and 7 dedication for the betterment of public schools in the State 8 of Illinois; therefore, be it 9 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 10 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 11 we congratulate Wayne L. Sampson on his retirement as 12 executive director of the Illinois Association of School 13 Boards and applaud his devotion and dedication to the 14 education of our State's youth; and be it further 15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 16 presented to Wayne L. Sampson.
