91_HR0737 LRB9113662CBcbA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives were 3 saddened to learn of the death of Kenneth L. Hermansen of 4 Panama City Beach, Florida, formerly of Romeoville, on 5 Thursday, May 27, 1999; and 6 WHEREAS, Kenneth Hermansen was superintendent of the 7 Valley View School District for twenty years, during which 8 time he pioneered and introduced the 45-15 year round school 9 program, the first such program in the State of Illinois; he 10 taught in Valley View Schools for thirty years and spent a 11 total of thirty-four years in education; he retired in 1983; 12 and 13 WHEREAS, Kenneth Hermansen taught for a year at a 14 one-room schoolhouse at Boughton and Naperville Roads, and 15 later taught for seven years at Romeoville High School; he 16 also taught evening psychology courses at Joliet Junior 17 College; and 18 WHEREAS, Kenneth Hermansen was born on a farm in northern 19 Indiana on January 6, 1924; he was a veteran of the United 20 States Army during World War II; and 21 WHEREAS, Mr. Hermansen served on the Romeoville Village 22 Board and the Fountaindale Public Library Board; he was a 23 past member of the Jaycees and Lions Club in Romeoville, 24 worked in sales and marketing for Cornerstone Services in 25 Will County, and helped with the Village of Romeoville's 26 Operation Christmas fundraiser; and 27 WHEREAS, A memorial service will be held in his honor at 28 St. Benedict Episcopal Church in Bolingbrook on Saturday, May 29 20, 2000; and 30 WHEREAS, Kenneth Hermansen will be missed by all, 31 especially his wife, Marilyn; his daughters, Karen Hermansen, -2- LRB9113662CBcbA 1 Dawn Bretz, and Kandy Hermansen; his sons, Keith Hermansen 2 and Douglas Hermansen; his step-daughter, Karen Carmichael; 3 and his seven grandchildren; therefore, be it 4 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 5 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 6 we note with sorrow and regret the death of Kenneth L. 7 Hermansen and extend our sincere condolences to his family 8 and friends; and be it further 9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 10 presented to his widow, Marilyn Hermansen.
