1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the Barclay
3 Public Library of Warrensburg is celebrating its fifty-fifth
4 anniversary this year; and
5 WHEREAS, The Barclay Public Library was established as a
6 tax-supported library in 1945; it was named to honor the
7 library's founder, Pyrle Barclay, who actually began the
8 library in her home in 1942; and
9 WHEREAS, The mission of the Barclay Public Library is to
10 provide district residents with high interest, popular
11 materials in a variety of formats; an emphasis is placed on
12 providing a children's collection which promotes an
13 appreciation for reading and learning; the library also
14 serves as a community center, and offers computer instruction
15 with access to the internet and several on-line reference and
16 periodicals databases; and
17 WHEREAS, In the past fifty-five years of its
18 distinguished service to the citizens of this State, the
19 Barclay Public Library has experienced much growth,
20 expansion, and modernization, and has dedicated itself to
21 providing the Warrensburg-Harristown Township citizens with
22 the services essential to our communities; and
23 WHEREAS, Public libraries provide our communities with
24 invaluable resources, instruction, and are the guardians of
25 our heritage; therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
27 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28 we congratulate the Barclay Public Library on the occasion of
29 its fifty-fifth anniversary and extend our sincere best
30 wishes for continued growth and success in the future; and be
31 it further

2 presented to the Barclay Public Library.
