1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to acknowledge events within the
4 State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, The Greater Illinois Chapter of the Cystic
6 Fibrosis Foundation is holding its 16th Annual Cystic
7 Fibrosis Casino Fling on April 29, 2000 at the Fairmount
8 Hotel in Chicago; and
9 WHEREAS, PathoGenesis Corporation, whose executive
10 offices are located in Skokie, Illinois, is the title sponsor
11 of Casino Fling 2000; and
12 WHEREAS, Wilbur Gantz, CEO of PathoGenesis Corporation
13 and his wife, Linda Gantz, are the Honorary Chairpersons of
14 Casino Fling 2000; and
15 WHEREAS, Cystic Fibrosis is the most common fatal genetic
16 disease among Caucasians, afflicting over 30,000 children and
17 young adults in North America; and
18 WHEREAS, In 1955 the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was
19 founded to raise money and foster research to find the cure
20 for cystic fibrosis and to develop treatments to combat this
21 disease; and
22 WHEREAS, Great scientific advancements have been made in
23 fighting this disease due in part to the donations of many
24 Illinois corporations and citizens; and
25 WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Greater Illinois
26 Chapter's Casino Fling has raised over $1.7 million net
27 dollars for research to fight cystic fibrosis; therefore, be
28 it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
30 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1 we declare April 29, 2000 to be Cystic Fibrosis Casino Fling
2 Day in the State of Illinois; and we congratulate the Greater
3 Illinois Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,
4 PathoGenesis Corporation, and Wilbur and Linda Gantz,
5 Honorary Chairpersons of Casino Fling, for their hard work
6 and dedication to finding the cure for cystic fibrosis; and
7 be it further
8 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
9 presented to Ashton Chase, Executive Director of the Greater
10 Illinois Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,
11 PathoGenesis Corporation, and Wilbur and Linda Gantz,
12 Honorary Chairpersons of Casino Fling 2000.
