1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives
4 of citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Carole Wexler Kalnow, executive director of the
6 Stepping Stone Foundation, was recently named Volunteer of
7 the Year by Pioneer Press; North Shore Magazine initiated the
8 award in 1983, and Pioneer Press has continued the tradition;
9 Pioneer Press President and Publisher Tom Neri presented
10 Carole Wexler Kalnow with a crystal trophy and a cash
11 donation to the Stepping Stone Foundation; and
12 WHEREAS, Carole Wexler Kalnow, after years of fundraising
13 for the Starlight Foundation, first cousin of the Make-A-Wish
14 Foundation, founded the Stepping Stone Foundation in 1996;
15 working with 400 teenaged volunteers, the Foundation holds
16 special events and programs for children in area hospitals
17 and institutions; and
18 WHEREAS, Carole Wexler Kalnow has two children, Cara and
19 Drew, but through her hard work and devotion to the Stepping
20 Stone Foundation, she touches the lives of many children
21 with love and compassion; therefore, be it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE Magazine
23 initiated GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
24 congratulate Carole Wexler Kalnow on being named Volunteer of
25 the Year by Pioneer Press; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to Carole Wexler Kalnow.
