1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives
4 of people of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, John Kilday will be retiring from his position
6 as Director of Adult and Continuing Education with the Joliet
7 Township High School after serving for 31 years; and
8 WHEREAS, John Kilday has been responsible for all
9 vocational programs at four campuses, Central campus,
10 Alternate School, the West Campus, and the Evening School;
11 the programs include: 22 Career and Technical programs, 9
12 Adult and Continuing Education Technical programs, 2
13 Tech-Prep Schools-Within-A-School, Child Care and Day Care
14 Center for students who are parents, Partnership Academy,
15 Jobs for Illinois Graduates, Upper Edge, School-Based
16 Enterprise, and the National Center for Construction
17 Education and Research (NCCER) "Wheels of Learning"
18 Apprenticeship program; and
19 WHEREAS, John Kilday received his education from
20 LaSalle/Peru/Ogelsby Junior College, and Illinois State
21 University; he serves on the Board of Directors of Three
22 Rivers Education for Employment System Planning &
23 Coordination Council, the Board of Directors of Education to
24 Careers, and the Board of Directors of United Cerebral Palsy;
25 he is a member of the Committee for Quality Vocational
26 Education; he is a past Illinois Vocational Association Board
27 member and Advisory Board member; he is on the Joliet
28 Township High School Infant Child Care Center Board; he is on
29 the WILCO Welding Advisory Board; and he serves on the Joliet
30 Township Tech-Prep & Advisory Partnership Academy Advisory
31 Board; and
32 WHEREAS, John Kilday is a member of the Illinois

1 Vocational Association, the American Vocational Association,
2 the Illinois Adult & Continuing Education Association, the
3 Illinois Vocational & Career Administrators, the Illinois
4 Cooperative Education Coordinators Association, the Illinois
5 Industrial Technology Association, the Illinois Farm Bureau
6 Association, the Will County Auto Body Association, and the
7 Kiwanis Club; and
8 WHEREAS, John Kilday has received many awards, including:
9 the Illinois Vocational Association Teacher Administrator of
10 the Year 1990 award, the American Vocational Association
11 Region III Award of Merit, the Region 9 Vocational Industrial
12 Clubs of America Advisor 15-year award, the 1998 Joliet Area
13 Church-Based Organized Body (JACOB) Community Ally Award, the
14 Illinois Association for Career and Technical Education
15 Teacher/Administrator of the Year 2000 award, and the Award
16 of Merit for the Year 2000 ; and
17 WHEREAS, John Kilday will enjoy his retirement along with
18 his wife, Carolyn, and their daughters, Susan, Mary, and
19 Kathy; therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22 we congratulate John Kilday on his retirement and well
23 deserved vacation; and be it further
24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to John Kilday.
