1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express their sincere sympathies to
4 the family and friends of Emily Alschuler, on her recent
5 passing away; and
6 WHEREAS, In 1945 she married Richard Alschuler and moved
7 to Glencoe; and
8 WHEREAS, Emily Alschuler was a former resident of the
9 Hyde Park area of Chicago; she was a graduate of the
10 University of Chicago; and
11 WHEREAS, Emily Alschuler served on the board of directors
12 of the American Jewish Committee; she was active in
13 establishing communications between Chicago Jewish and
14 Catholic communities; she served two terms as a member of the
15 Glencoe Board of Education, and two terms on the New Trier
16 Township Board of Education; and
17 WHEREAS, Emily Alschuler is survived by her sons, William
18 and David; her brother-in-law, former Chicago alderman Leon
19 Despres; her two grandsons; and her two granddaughters;
20 therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23 we mourn, along with all who knew her, the death of Emily
24 Alschuler; and be it further
25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
26 presented to the family of Emily Alschuler.
