1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Shawn Presser and his father Lee Presser,
3 residents of Glen Carbon, were involved in an unfortunate
4 climbing accident while traveling to California on December
5 29, 1999, falling 30 to 50 feet down Saxon Mountain in Clear
6 Creek County, Colorado; and
7 WHEREAS, Shawn, age 11, fractured his leg and wrist
8 during the fall and Lee Presser suffered a serious head
9 injury; and
10 WHEREAS, Despite his injuries, Shawn Presser was able to
11 call 911 from a cell phone to summon help from the Clear
12 Creek County Sheriff's Department and direct the rescuers to
13 their location; and
14 WHEREAS, Shawn Presser's quick action resulted in Shawn
15 and his father being rescued from spending the night in an
16 area that could have claimed their lives; and
17 WHEREAS, Shawn Presser reacted in a mature, responsible
18 manner, proving he could be a hero despite his young age;
19 therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22 we congratulate Shawn Presser for his quick reaction in a
23 life threatening situation and that we extend to him our best
24 wishes for the future; and be it further
25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
26 presented to Shawn Presser.
