91_HR0574 LRB9113300CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are pleased to 3 recognize Illinois citizens who have distinguished themselves 4 in service to their community and State; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that John Shane was 6 named First Citizen of 1999 by the Danville American Business 7 Club, and will be recognized on February 16, 2000 at the 67th 8 Annual First Citizen Banquet; and 9 WHEREAS, A Danville native, John Shane is a 10 fourth-generation businessman in his family's insurance 11 agency, Wolford Cannon Hoecker Insurance; he started working 12 for the insurance agency in 1966 and became president after 13 his father's death 26 years ago; and 14 WHEREAS, Following in his father's footsteps, John Shane 15 has served as vice president of the Danville Jaycees and 16 president of Danville Junior Achievement; and 17 WHEREAS, He has been a member of the Lakeview Foundation 18 Board, secretary/treasurer of Spring Hill Cemetery 19 Association, general chairman/chairman of the board for the 20 Danville United Way Campaign, president of Danville Noon 21 Rotary Club, president/vice president of Danville Country 22 Club, chairman of the board for United Samaritans Medical 23 Center Foundation, chairman of Danville Area Community 24 College Foundation's Frontline 2000 Campaign, chairman of the 25 board of DACC Foundation, and on the Boys & Girls Club Task 26 Force Committee; and 27 WHEREAS, Mr. Shane and his wife, Susan, have two sons, 28 John Jr. and Steven, and a daughter, Pamela; and 29 WHEREAS, Mr. Shane has given unselfishly of his time and 30 talents to the entire community and has set a remarkable 31 example to all; therefore, be it -2- LRB9113300CBcb 1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 3 we congratulate John Shane on being named First Citizen of 4 the Year 1999 by the Danville American Business Club; and be 5 it further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to John Shane.
