91_HR0545 LRB9112733CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to extend their sincere condolences and 4 sympathies to the family, friends, and co-workers of Jose 5 Jaime Esparza, General Manager of Community Services for the 6 American Red Cross of Greater Chicago, who died tragically 7 while trying to save his father Raul's life; and 8 WHEREAS, Jose Jaime Esparza was born on September 23, 9 1967; Mr. Esparza died on January 17, 2000; and 10 WHEREAS, Jaime's career with the American Red Cross will 11 be remembered for his commitment to strengthening community 12 programs that save lives; through Jaime's leadership as 13 General Manager of Community Services, thousands of Chicago 14 area youth learned about saving lives through First Aid, CPR, 15 HIV/AIDS education, and other programs; and 16 WHEREAS, One of the Red Cross programs closest to Jaime's 17 heart was Youth Leadership Training, which offers learning 18 opportunities to at-risk adolescents to help them develop 19 important and valuable life and job skills; to honor his 20 memory and passion for getting youth involved in community 21 service, the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago has chosen 22 to name this program the Jaime Esparza Youth Leadership 23 Program; and 24 WHEREAS, Jaime was instrumental in developing effective 25 methods to provide American Red Cross programs and services 26 to the Spanish-speaking community; his focus on serving the 27 unmet needs of the community and his ability to work together 28 with community, religious, and government leaders to achieve 29 those goals will never be forgotten; and 30 WHEREAS, In addition to his commitment to the American 31 Red Cross, Jaime was equally devoted to his family, the -2- LRB9112733CBcb 1 beloved son of Maria and the late Raul Sr.; loving brother to 2 nine siblings; uncle of twenty-three children; and 3 great-uncle of nine children; and 4 WHEREAS, Jaime's passing will be deeply felt by his 5 family, his co-workers, his friends, and the Chicago 6 community where he lived; therefore, be it 7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 8 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 9 we mourn, along with all that knew him, the death of Jose 10 Jaime Esparza; may his family and friends find comfort in 11 this time of loss; and be it further 12 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 13 presented to the family of Jose Jaime Esparza.
