1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives
4 of citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of this Body that
6 Don Munson, host of the WJBC Morning Show, has announced his
7 retirement on January 28, 2000; and
8 WHEREAS, Don Munson is the host of the top-rated morning
9 radio show in the Twin Cities of Bloomington and Normal; Don
10 Munson is the vice president of Twin Cities Broadcasting, the
11 operators of WJBC, which is owned by Bloomington
12 Broadcasting; and
13 WHEREAS, Don Munson retired as the station manager of
14 WJBC two and a half years ago; and
15 WHEREAS, Don Munson began working on the morning show in
16 1965; for the past 35 years the show has been ranked number
17 one in the Arbitron ratings for radio stations; in 1991 Don
18 Munson received the Marconi Award, being named the nation's
19 top small market radio personality; and
20 WHEREAS, Don Munson served as chief programmer for the
21 station for 20 years; he was responsible for the "Spirit of
22 McLean County" image adopted by the station in 1976; he was
23 also responsible for the local Forum commentary group, the
24 Brotherhood Tree, and WJBC Great Escapes; he will continue to
25 host his Sunday night show "Don Munson's Archives",
26 showcasing vintage jazz and big band music; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we congratulate Don Munson on his retirement from the WJBC
30 Morning Show; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to Don Munson.
