91_HR0525 LRB9110648CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the members of 3 this Body welcome the opportunity to recognize citizens of 4 this State on the occasions which have come to mean so much 5 to them; and 6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Reverend 7 Marvin E. Wiley will celebrate the 40th anniversary of his 8 birth on Monday, January 10, 2000; and 9 WHEREAS, Reverend Wiley, a native of Pine Bluff, 10 Arkansas, is the Senior Pastor of the Rock of Ages Baptist 11 Church in Maywood; he became Pastor in March of 1991; and 12 WHEREAS, He graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1978 13 and attended Dallas Baptist College in Dallas, Texas; he 14 graduated from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with 15 a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology; and he served as an 16 instructor and enrollment advisor at South Central Career 17 College from 1986 to 1989; and 18 WHEREAS, He is a member of the Salem Baptist District 19 Association of the Baptist General State Convention of 20 Illinois and he serves on the Executive Committee of the 21 Corporate Board of Directors of the Sunday School Publishing 22 Board of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.; and 23 WHEREAS, He was ordained in May of 1981 at the Eighth 24 Avenue Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and served the 25 Pilgrim Baptist Church in Pine Bluff from 1981 to 1988; he 26 also served the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Pine Bluff 27 as Pastor from 1988 to 1991; and 28 WHEREAS, He is married to the former Marilyn Ross and 29 they have two children, Madilyn Ellise and Jarrett Ryan; 30 therefore, be it -2- LRB9110648CBcb 1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 3 we wish to congratulate Reverend Marvin E. Wiley on the 4 occasion of the 40th anniversary of his birth and extend our 5 best wishes for health and happiness in the future; and be it 6 further 7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 8 presented to him as a token of our respect and esteem.
