1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives offer our sincere congratulations to the 1999
4 York Community High School Girl's Cross Country Team and
5 Coach Larry Bassett for making school history with their
6 second place finish at the State finals; and
7 WHEREAS, The Lady Dukes finished just 13 points out of
8 first place in one of the most competitive State meets in
9 history; and
10 WHEREAS, No other team had a better seven-person lineup
11 than York, which had all seven team members at the State
12 finals finishing in the top 100; and
13 WHEREAS, During the past 22 years, Coach Larry Bassett
14 has guided the girls cross-country team to 16 appearances at
15 the State finals, including 14 finishes in the top 10; and
16 the Lady Dukes have finished among the top 3 teams in the
17 State during 3 out of the last 4 years; and
18 WHEREAS, The Lady Dukes have enjoyed an outstanding
19 championship season, winning the Peoria Invitational, the
20 DuPage County Meet, and the West Suburban Conference Title;
21 and
22 WHEREAS, Team members Kelly Forst, Eva Zellman, Laura
23 Fitzgerald, Allison Billhardt, Maria Cicero, Lori McEllin,
24 Kelly O'Neill, and Jamie Virzi have demonstrated
25 extraordinary determination and commitment; and
26 WHEREAS, We recognize the hard work and dedication of
27 Coach Larry Bassett and the team members to continue the
28 winning tradition at York in cross country and track and
29 field; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2 we do hereby offer our congratulations to Coach Larry Bassett
3 and the Lady Dukes for making school history with their
4 second place finish at the State finals; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to Coach Larry Bassett and the Lady Dukes.
