1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the members of
3 this Body welcome the opportunity to recognize citizens of
4 this State who make outstanding contributions to society; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Dr. Lawrence
6 Jacobsen has announced his retirement as Superintendent of
7 the Herscher School District after fourteen years of service;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, A native of Ashkum, Lawrence Jacobsen graduated
10 from Central High School in 1963 and earned his doctorate in
11 education from Illinois State University; and
12 WHEREAS, Prior to serving at Herscher, Dr. Jacobsen
13 served two years as superintendent of schools at Macon; from
14 1974 to 1984, he also served as superintendent at Sparland;
15 in addition, he served as a high school principal for three
16 years at Mount Carroll and taught for four years in
17 Georgetown; and
18 WHEREAS, Dr. Jacobsen and his wife, Nancy, are the loving
19 parents to a daughter, Kim Butler, and a son, Brian; and
20 WHEREAS, Dr. Jacobsen plans to stay around Herscher for
21 another year until his wife retires from her teaching job at
22 Kankakee Community College; then, the couple plans to travel
23 and enjoy their retirement years; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
26 we congratulate Dr. Lawrence Jacobsen on his retirement from
27 the Herscher School District and wish him health and
28 happiness in the future; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to Dr. Lawrence Jacobsen as an expression of our
