1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the Lake
3 County Forest Preserve District was named 1999 National Gold
4 Medal Grand Award Winner by the National Sports Foundation;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, Executive Director Steven K. Messerli accepted
7 the award on Saturday, October 23, 1999, at the National
8 Recreation and Park Association Annual Congress in Nashville,
9 Tennessee; and
10 WHEREAS, The National Gold Medal Awards are presented
11 annually to the nation's best systems for parks,
12 conservation, and recreation administration; and
13 WHEREAS, For the fourth consecutive year, nationally
14 recognized authorities in the field of park and recreation
15 management selected the Lake County Forest Preserve; and
16 WHEREAS, The Lake County Forest Preserve is a dynamic
17 system of natural and cultural resources and offers
18 innovative education, recreation, and cultural opportunities;
19 therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22 we congratulate the Lake County Forest Preserve District on
23 winning the 1999 National Gold Medal Grand Award awarded by
24 the National Sports Foundation and applaud the great work and
25 the commitment to the environment; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to President Carol Calabresa and the members of the
28 Lake County Board of Commissioners.
