91_HR0488 LRB9109410CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the House were saddened to learn 3 of the recent death of Herman Meyer of the Beverly 4 Neighborhood in Chicago, having lived to the age of 87; and 5 WHEREAS, Herman's life is remarkable, having served as an 6 officer in the United States Army in both the European and 7 Asian Theatres in World War II; and 8 WHEREAS, After returning from the war, he worked for 9 Commonwealth Edison, retiring after 45 years of service and 10 rising to management level; and 11 WHEREAS, He served the Kiwanis Club for over 30 years, 12 holding the offices of secretary and president; and 13 WHEREAS, After many years of community service, he 14 received the highest honor given by Kiwanis International; 15 and 16 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family 17 and friends, especially his two sons, Charles and Bruce 18 Meyer; therefore, be it 19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 20 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 21 we commend Mr. Herman Meyer for his many years of service to 22 both his country and community and congratulate him 23 posthumously; and be it further 24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 25 presented to his sons, Charles and Bruce Meyer.
