91_HR0486 LRB9109759KBkbB 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of former 4 State Representative Arthur Telcser of Chicago; and 5 WHEREAS, Arthur Telcser served in the Illinois House of 6 Representatives from 1967 to 1983; while serving in the 7 House, he supported Governor Ogilvie's state income tax, gun 8 control, bilingual education, merit selection of the 9 judiciary, and public access for the disabled; and 10 WHEREAS, Arthur Telcser was appointed House Majority Whip 11 in 1969, Assistant Majority Leader in 1973, Assistant 12 Minority Leader in 1975, Minority Whip in 1977, Assistant 13 Minority Leader in 1979, and Majority Leader in 1981; 14 Representative Telcser was elected to fill the Speaker's 15 Chair upon the election of Speaker George Ryan to the 16 Lieutenant Governor's position; and 17 WHEREAS, In 1991 he served as director of the Department 18 of Securities in the Secretary of State's office; in 1998 he 19 served as co-chairman of the transition team for Governor 20 Ryan; from the late 1950's to the present day, he was the 21 owner and operator of Wilart Drugs in Chicago; and 22 WHEREAS, Arthur Telcser was a graduate of the University 23 of Illinois College of Pharmacy; he was active in the Kiwanis 24 Club, the Lake View Citizens Council, the Illinois 25 Pharmaceutical Association, and the Congregation of Anshe 26 Mizrach; he was the recipient of such awards as Outstanding 27 Business Man of the Month, Lake View Man of the Month, and 28 Most Effective Legislator; and 29 WHEREAS, Arthur Telcser is survived by his wife, Dorothy; 30 his daughters, Karen Garrick and Sharon Telcser; his brother, 31 Donald Telcser; and a granddaughter; therefore, be it -2- LRB9109759KBkbB 1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 3 we mourn, along with all that knew and loved him, the death 4 of former State Representative Arthur Telcser; and be it 5 further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to the family of Arthur Telcser, along with our 8 sincere regards.
