1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this House are pleased and
3 honored to recognize significant achievements in the lives of
4 individuals of this great State; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Fire Chief
6 Elmer J. Joyce, Sr. of Steger is celebrating fifty years of
7 active service with the Steger Fire Department; and
8 WHEREAS, The Chief has spent his entire life serving his
9 country and community, the last twenty-five years as fire
10 chief; and
11 WHEREAS, He was born in Steger in 1925 and has never left
12 the community; he served in the United States Army during
13 World War II in Europe; and
14 WHEREAS, After the war, he returned and joined the fire
15 department in December of 1949, working his way through the
16 ranks to the highest level in November of 1974; and
17 WHEREAS, Chief Joyce has earned the respect and
18 admiration of all who know him; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21 we congratulate Fire Chief Elmer J. Joyce, Sr. as he
22 celebrates fifty years on the department and twenty-five
23 years as chief; we wish him success and health in the future;
24 and be it further
25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
26 presented to Fire Chief Elmer J. Joyce, Sr.
