1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this House are pleased and
3 honored to recognize individuals who have made great
4 achievements in the world of education; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Dr. Thomas E.
6 Ryan, Superintendent of Schools for Community Consolidated
7 Schools, District 168 of Sauk Village, has been chosen for
8 the honor of having the six-classroom addition of Wagoner
9 School dedicated to him and called the Dr. Thomas E. Ryan
10 Learning Center; and
11 WHEREAS, Dr. Ryan completed his doctoral dissertation,
12 which was entitled "Parents as Partners", and has been very
13 active in promoting parent involvement in their child's
14 academic lives; and
15 WHEREAS, Dr. Ryan has served as a teacher, principal,
16 comptroller, assistant superintendent, and associate
17 superintendent in charge of finance, operations, and
18 personnel throughout the districts in southern Cook County;
19 and
20 WHEREAS, Dr. Ryan has developed and implemented budgets
21 and financial plans where he has served, which have led to
22 those districts being removed from the State's "Financial
23 Watch List" within two years of implementation; and
24 WHEREAS, Dr. Ryan has presented at numerous district and
25 State I.A.S.B. workshops and seminars regarding the topic of
26 real parent involvement, school finance, and safety related
27 issues; he has served as a consultant to the I.A.S.B. on
28 numerous superintendent business officials' searches; and
29 WHEREAS, He has been affiliated with several
30 organizations, including Phi Delta Kappa, the Illinois
31 Association of School Business Officials, Northern

1 Superintendents Roundtable, SPEED Special Education
2 Cooperative, Illinois Association of School Administrators,
3 American Association of School Administrators, Educational
4 League of Illinois, S.M.A. Board of Trustees, and ISC 4 Board
5 of Directors; and
6 WHEREAS, He was recently elected president of the South
7 Cook Division of the Illinois Association of School
8 Administrators; and
9 WHEREAS, It is a pleasure and honor to recognize Dr.
10 Thomas E. Ryan on this occasion; therefore, be it
11 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13 we congratulate Dr. Thomas E. Ryan on having the addition to
14 the Wagoner School named the Dr. Thomas E. Ryan Learning
15 Center; and be it further
16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to Dr. Thomas E. Ryan as a measure of our esteem.
