91_HR0461 LRB9109254KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of former 4 State Representative Abraham Lincoln Stanfield, formerly of 5 Chrisman, Illinois; and 6 WHEREAS, Abraham Lincoln Stanfield, known as "Lincoln", 7 "Link", and "Abe", was born in Edgar, Illinois, on August 7, 8 1911; his parents were Donald Dakin and Mayme Henderson 9 Stanfield; Mr. Stanfield was State Representative for the 10 51st District from 1957 to 1963; and 11 WHEREAS, Mr. Stanfield graduated from Chrisman High 12 School in 1928 and Kemper Military School in 1930; he 13 received a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Illinois 14 University in 1962 and a Masters of Science degree from 15 Southern Illinois University in 1968; and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. Stanfield was the owner of an insurance 17 agency and a hardware store in Kansas, Illinois; he also 18 served as a Boy Scout leader in Kansas for 10 years; he 19 served as the Edgar County Treasurer and Deputy County 20 Coroner and was employed in the county clerk's office; and 21 WHEREAS, Mr. Stanfield taught school at East Junior High 22 School in Kankakee for 5 years; after his move to Arizona, he 23 taught at Camelback High School, West High School, and 24 Paradise Valley Community College; he was the tennis coach 25 for West High, North High, and Paradise Valley High School; 26 and 27 WHEREAS, Mr. Stanfield was a member of Emmanuel 28 Presbyterian Church in Phoenix, Arizona, the Masonic Lodge of 29 Kansas, Illinois, the Danville Consistery, the Ainad Shrine 30 of Springfield, and the American Rose Society; and 31 WHEREAS, Abraham Lincoln Stanfield is survived by his -2- LRB9109254KBkb 1 wife, Phyliis; his son, Pat Stanfield; his grandchildren, 2 Michael Stanfield, Dr. Laura Stanfield Prichard, Jason 3 Stanfield, Lucy Stanfield, and Lisa Stanfield; his 4 brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eldon and Jane Garrett; his 5 sister, Peg Petitt; his niece, Peggy Jensen; and his two 6 nephews, Col. James M. Petitt III and John McGee; therefore, 7 be it 8 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 9 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 10 we mourn the death of Abraham Lincoln Stanfield, a husband, 11 father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and former State 12 Representative; and be it further 13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 14 presented to the family of Abraham Lincoln Stanfield.
