1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the members of
3 this Body welcome the opportunity to recognize those special
4 citizens of this State who have made outstanding
5 contributions to their community; and
6 WHEREAS, Roman "Smitty" Smietanski was one such person;
7 he was a long-time resident of the Bradley area and was a
8 partner with Leonard "Shakey" Martin in S&M Gas; and
9 WHEREAS, On September 27, 1999, Beatrice Smietanski
10 donated the seventy acres of land within the Bourbonnais
11 Township Park District boundaries in the name of the family
12 of Roman Smietanski; and
13 WHEREAS, Roman Smietanski was an active member of
14 Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited and designed the area
15 as a place for hatching water fowl; and
16 WHEREAS, The property is a wildlife refuge and hatchery;
17 the intent of the donation is to ensure that the area is
18 preserved in its natural state; and
19 WHEREAS, We join the Bourbonnais Township Park District
20 in thanking Mrs. Smietanski and the family for their generous
21 donation; therefore, be it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
23 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
24 we wish to recognize Roman "Smitty" Smietanski for his
25 thoughtful design of the area and his family for donating the
26 land; and be it further
27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
28 presented to Mrs. Beatrice Smietanski.
