1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones within the
4 State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, On September 24, 1999 the Grand Lodge of the
6 State of Illinois, Order Sons of Italy in America, will
7 celebrate the 75th anniversary of its charter; and
8 WHEREAS, The Order Sons of Italy in America is the
9 largest fraternal organization of Americans of Italian
10 descent in the United States; many of the members have made
11 their marks in commerce, public services, arts and
12 humanities, and many other notable professions; and
13 WHEREAS, Members of the Order Sons of Italy in America
14 are proud of their cultural heritage and have made
15 commitments to fulfill the ideals and goals of the Order; and
16 WHEREAS, The State of Illinois is proud to recognize this
17 important time in the Grand Lodge of the State of Illinois,
18 Order Sons of Italy in America; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21 we declare September 24, 1999 as "Order Sons of Italy Day"
22 within the State of Illinois; may this fine fraternal
23 organization, dedicated to maintaining the rich cultural
24 heritage of Italian-Americans in the United States, continue
25 to grow and shine forth; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to Giovanna Verdecchia, State President, Grand
28 Lodge of the State of Illinois, Order Sons of Italy in
29 America.
