1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives is pleased
3 to honor milestones within the State of Illinois; and
4 WHEREAS, The International Franchise Association is a
5 membership organization serving over 30,000 members in
6 fulfilling its mission "to enhance and safeguard the business
7 environment for the franchisors and franchisees worldwide";
8 and
9 WHEREAS, The International Franchise Association is the
10 global leader that serves as a resource center for current
11 and prospective franchisees and franchisors, the media, and
12 the government; and
13 WHEREAS, The International Franchise Association is
14 providing information, access, and opportunity throughout the
15 world through IFA workshops, an annual convention, legal
16 symposium, marketing conferences, and the international
17 franchise expo; and
18 WHEREAS, The Minorities in Franchising Committee, a
19 committee of the International Franchise Association, has as
20 its vision to provide a venue for underserved markets to have
21 access to franchise ownership opportunities; and
22 WHEREAS, The Regional Educational Franchising Conference
23 is designed to serve as a mechanism to increase the number of
24 franchise owners among under-represented populations,
25 including minorities and women, by linking entrepreneurs with
26 companies that are committed to supporting diversity in their
27 approach to a rapidly changing national marketplace; and
28 WHEREAS, The Regional Educational Franchising Conference
29 provides a forum for franchisees current and prospective to
30 network and discuss issues of importance to the targeted
31 community; and

1 WHEREAS, The Regional Educational Franchising Conference
2 has enlisted the support of Connections for Community
3 Ownership and the Latino Franchise Project, National and
4 Local Partners and Sponsors to support and be advocates for
5 the presentation of franchise opportunities to those
6 interested in these underserved markets; and
7 WHEREAS, Chicago, Illinois is the host City for the
8 convening of the "Emerging Markets Program" Regional
9 Educational Franchising Conference; therefore, be it
10 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12 we declare August 7, 1999 to be "International Franchise
13 Association's Emerging Markets Regional Educational
14 Franchising Conference Day" in the State of Illinois; and be
15 it further
16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the leader of the Regional Educational
18 Franchising Conference.
